Brutalist Jewelry

Brutalism is a design style that emerged from the Modernist tradition roughly at the same time, the mid-20th Century. Like Modernism it is often associated with architecture but artists adopted this style forthree dimensional works such as sculpture and jewelry. Unlike Modernist jewelry which tends to be minimalist and clean looking, Brutalist jewelry tends to look rough and very organic in nature. Montreal was a hub for Brutalist jewelry designers of the 1960's and 70's such as Guy Vidal, Robert Larin, and Bernard Chaudron, anong others. These now vintage pieces are still  very popular.
