This unusual textured Brutalist style pendant was made by pouring melted pewter over dried peas. Pewter is much lighter and less expensive than Sterling silver. This pendant is embellished with Turquoise, Citrine and Peridot cabochons in small silver bezels.
Although this is a very unique and contemporary look to this pendant, the design style and use of pewter was popular during the Mid 20th Century. Actually Canadian Brutalist jewellery designers from Montreal were pioneers in this style and put Canada on the jewellery design map at this very important time for design. The Brutalist style, popularized in architecture and 3D art, was also made affordable by using pewter and bronze rather than the more expensive metals. The Montreal Brutalist jewellery is now highly collectible and valuable.
The style and colours make this pendant versatile enough to wear anytime.
We use local gemstones and materials when available.
