When designing this pendant i decided to incorporate several different jerwelry-making methods.
First I cut, ground and polished the rare and phenomenal Flowerstone to highlight the contrasting "flower" feature. The resulting cabochon has an unusual shape and a high shine.
To continue the botanical theme I sculpted pure silver metal clay into a similar shape to that of the cabochon. I carved out botanical shapes in the clay and fired it at over 1700 degrees F. In the kiln.
I then constructed in Sterling silver a bezel to hold the gemstone and a structure to support all the various pieces together. Finally I cut and stamped a bail at the top to suspend the pendant on a darkened silver-plated 30 inch long adjustable chain.
Full pendant is 2.5 inches wide and just over 2 inches from top of bail to bottom of pendant.
We process stones and metal using natural solutions and avoid toxic chemicals as much as possible. We follow environmental guidelines when disposing processed solutions.
