It is sweater weather again and the brooch is a must have adornment. Just check the fashion blogs and magazines and you will see them everywhere. I am so glad they are back because I just love an interesting brooch on a cowl neck chunky sweater or the lapel of a woollen boyfriend jacket.

This unusual textured Brutalist style pendant was made by pouring melted pewter over dried peas. Pewter is much lighter and less expensive than Sterling silver. This pendant is embellished with Turquoise, Citrine and Peridot cabochons in small silver bezels.

Although this is a very unique and contemporary look to this brooch, the design style and use of pewter was popular during the Mid 20th Century. Actually Canadian Brutalist jewellery designers from Montreal were pioneers in this style and put Canada on the jewellery design map at this very important time for design. The Brutalist style, popularized in architecture and 3D art, was also made affordable by using pewter and bronze rather than the more expensive metals. The Montreal Brutalist jewellery is now highly collectible and valuable.

The style and colours make this brooch versatile enough to wear  anytime.

We use local gemstones and materials when available.
